Car Seat Fitting available at our Burscough Store or Aintree Store near Southport, Liverpool, Formby, Ainsdale, Birkdale, Preston, Lancashire, Cumbria. We fit both Isofix and i-size seats that are front-facing and rear-facing, so whichever seat you are planning on buying, we can make sure that it is properly secured.

According to childseatsafety.co.uk, 36% of car seats are incorrectly fitted to the car, while a further one in three children are secured incorrectly in their car seat. This means that the risks are two-fold, and it's vital that not only is the car seat itself fitted correctly, but that the child is then also strapped in correctly.

The best way to ensure that the car seat itself is correctly fitted is to have it professionally installed. When you have your child seat installed at our Ormskirk store, our team of expert car seat fitters can also offer you advice specific to the car seat you are buying that will help you ensure that your baby or toddler is safely strapped in at all times.

If you're planning to fit a car seat yourself, then we strongly suggest familiarising yourself with the laws on child booster and car seats in the UK by reading our blog post. In the meantime, we have included some top tips below when it comes to correctly secure your child in your chosen car seat:

Tip 1: Correctly adjust the harness position

In a forward-facing car seat, the harness should come out of the car seat in-line with or just above the child's shoulder. For rear-facing seats, the harness should come out of the seat just on or below the child's shoulder. It's important to double-check whether any cushions or head cushions are making the harness appear to be in the correct position, when in fact it is too high or too low. If you're unsure, then we highly recommend that you come in and visit the store to have your car seat properly fitted. It's possible to make a private appointment too.

Tip 2: Tug and pinch to test

We highly recommend giving the harness a pinch and a tug. If you can pinch the harness fabric together to find some slack, then the harness needs tightening. If the harness can't be pinched, then you have it adjusted correctly. We also recommend that once your child is strapped in, you give the harness a tug to make sure the clip has activated correctly.

Tip 3: Think about coats and layers

Thick coats can prevent a car seat from working properly. We recommend removing thick coats when securing your little one in the car seat. This way you can be sure of a correctly-adjusted, secure fit in the car seat.

We have many more tips to share with you and if you live in and around the Ormskirk, Liverpool, Lancashire area, then please do visit our showroom for an expert consultation and professional car seat fitting.
