Do all car seat bases fit the same?
It's important to note that not all children's car seat bases are universal, which is why we would recommend checking that the base you're looking to purchase is compatible with the model of your infants' car seat before you buy this. Usually, a car seat base of a particular brand is only compatible with certain car seat models of that same brand. For instance, the Bugaboo 360 Isofix Base by Nuna fits the Bugaboo Turtle Air and the Bugaboo Owl by Nuna. However, some of the car seats and bases in our collection at Direct4Baby are also available in bundles to help save you the time and effort of searching for a safe, compatible option.
Do you really need a car seat base?
It's a legal requirement in the UK for child seats to be secured in place using ISOFIX mountings or with a diagonal seat belt strap. While both are deemed secure, using a car seat base is considered a safer option, as these are designed with the specific purpose to hold an infant seat in place. Once the base is set up, the infant seat should fit on and off the base with a click, and there will be marked indicators that show if the seat is secured in place. There are also other additional factors to consider when you're fitting the infant car seat, including its compatibility with the car and if it's the correct size for the child.
