Designed in Sweden, the popular brand, DockATot, formerly known as Sleepyhead, produces comfortable sleeping pods for babies of all ages. Created as a solution for everyday problems, parents use the DockATot dock, still known to many as the original Sleepyhead pod, to provide a warm and supportive space that’s perfect for resting, lounging, sleeping, tummy time and more.
The Sleepyhead sleeping pod has become a must-have baby product for many parents out there, praised for its innovative design and versatility. With two highly popular variations of the Sleepyhead pod available at Direct4Baby, we decided to explore the difference of each, along with their benefits, to help both new and expecting parents decide whether a Sleepyhead pod is the perfect fit for your family. But first, we’ll be answering frequently asked questions on the recent rebrand from Sleepyhead to DockATot, and how this affects the popular baby brand’s products.
What is the difference between Sleepyhead and DockATot?
While Sleepyhead is now known as DockATot, the products have stayed mostly the same, other than the name and logo change. But parents can rest assured that all the much-loved features of the Sleepyhead pod still remain in the now renamed DockATot dock. Originally rebranded in America in 2015, the change has recently arrived in the UK, but, despite the drastic name change, the DockATot still includes the same soft, premium materials, as well as maintaining the same size and shape. And available in the same popular patterns and colours, DockATot products are still designed and made in Europe.
Is Sleepyhead Deluxe the same as a DockATot?
Yes, like their Grand range, other than the names, the products are pretty much the same. The only small differences are the change from the Sleepy Head logo, designed in a curly font, to the DockATot logo, appearing in a more modern, bolder font, which is visible on the product, zip, and on an additional side tab. However, all other features have remained the same as they were in the Sleepyhead pods.
Does Sleepyhead fit a DockATot?
We’re sure parents will be pleased to know that all the existing Sleepyhead products they have bought are 100% compatible with the rebranded Dockatot, as they have stayed the same size.
The Sleepyhead Grand £184.50
The Sleepyhead Grand (now the DockATot Grand Dock) at Direct4Baby is suitable for children aged 9-36 months. It’s designed to make travel easier, whether it be between rooms in your own home, a relative’s house or on holiday. Not only is it a great place to lay your baby on for supervised sleeping, playing and resting, it’s very handy for bed transitioning with toddlers as well. This is because the Sleepyhead Grand has air-permeable bumpers that act as bed rails, offering a secure sleeping space that’s somewhere in between a cot and a child’s bed. The soft and warm environment created by the Sleepyhead Grand’s design is comforting and secure, making transitioning to a bigger bed a much smoother process.
The Sleepyhead Deluxe £117.00
Hailed as the ultimate docking station for your baby, the Sleepyhead Deluxe at Direct4Baby (now the DockATot Deluxe+ Dock) is suitable for babies aged 0-9 months. Much like the Grand, it's a multifunctional pod that can be used for resting, nappy changing and supervised sleeping. The Sleepyhead Deluxe is super lightweight, meaning you can move it around the home with ease, or take it on a trip away without adding more weight to your bags. Featuring ultra-comfy barriers all the way around, the Sleepyhead Deluxe is designed to mimic the environment that your baby experienced in the womb, offering your little one a soothing and nurturing environment to rest in. The rounded, dense sides make this a great product for co-sleeping, as it provides your baby with their own space when sleeping next to you in your bed.
What is the difference between the Sleepyhead Grand and Sleepyhead Deluxe?
The main difference between the Sleepyhead Grand and the Sleepyhead Deluxe pods (now the DockATot Grand and DockATot Deluxe+ docks) is that they are aimed at different age groups. The Deluxe is only suitable for younger babies of up to nine months and can be used from day one, whereas the Grand has been specially designed for babies from nine months all the way up to 36 months. The uses therefore vary slightly between the two, as newborns and toddlers are in different stages of their development. The designs, in particular the safety barriers, are tailored to these specific age groups and therefore cater to your baby’s needs. Transitioning from the Deluxe to the Grand is very easy thanks to the age-appropriate features of each.
Are Sleepyheads safe for babies to sleep in?
It’s natural for any parent to worry about the safety of a baby product, especially when it comes to sleeping. All Sleepyhead products are carefully designed with safety in mind. All materials used are non-toxic and Oeko-Tex certified so you can rest assured that no harmful chemicals have been used on your Sleepyhead pod or any accompanying covers or accessories. The fabric used is also hypoallergenic so won't cause any irritation. As long as parents stick to the guidelines and safety measures, such as never leaving your baby unattended whilst using a Sleepyhead, then there’s nothing to worry about. The raised borders actually promote a healthy sleeping position and help to prevent your baby from rolling out of bed. Plus, you don’t have to worry about rolling on top of your little one whilst co-sleeping. The mattress pad and elevated sides are designed to reduce the risk of suffocation by allowing air to easily flow through the pod.
As with any baby product, we always advise reading all of the labels and instructions which provide information specific to that product, including relating to the make, model and size. Should you have any questions about any of the brands or products we stock here at Direct4Baby, then please do get in touch with our expert team.
Can you wash a Sleepyhead?
We know how messy our little ones can be, and it’s so important to keep your baby’s sleeping environment clean and hygienic. Sleepyhead outer covers (now DockATot covers) are machine washable, which makes life a whole lot easier for busy parents. Check the label on your Sleepyhead for more detailed instructions on how to wash each component without causing any damage. You can also purchase spare Sleepyhead covers which are great for swapping over when your current cover needs a wash.
